　　偶爾會看到一些人抱怨自己的職業被輕視，遇到勢利眼，很難過，這些人有時候是工人、黑手等等勞力密集的工作，有些則是服務生、保全員等比較基層的工作，這些人抱怨的時候，一方面會認為自己的工作不是傷天害理、也認為「職業不分貴賤」，但受到輕視還是很受傷，有些也會透露出一些自卑感，認為自己是環境所逼，才做這樣的工作，即使如此也是堂堂正正，為什麼這些人要這樣輕視自己？

　　這樣的抱怨與受傷通常會反覆出現，因為根本的心結沒有解，遇到時永遠會感到受傷。

　　事實上，這個「心結」的關鍵，就是他們自己也是「勢利眼」。

　　如果因為自己默默無名而自卑、因為自己的工作是基層是收入不高而感到不體面，那麼，這與向聲背實和勢利眼有什麼兩樣？如果真心認為職業無貴賤，當保全員與當醫生同等、當老師與當工人無異，那對於自己的職業又何來自卑和不體面感呢？如果自己的工作不是傷天害理，那又有什麼好自卑的呢？就算別人看不起自己，又怎麼能折損自己分毫呢？

　　不要只是刻意讓自己的行為不勢利，要打從心裡的去打破這種勢利心態，無論是對別人或是對自己，這樣，才能夠真正的學習到豁達，然後獲得內心的安寧。



　　輕視，要造成殺傷力，那必須是這個人在一定程度上認同對方的想法說辭，向王永慶說：「你這個窮人！」或去向金城武說：「你這個醜男！」就算你是打從心理這麼認為而且輕視他們，相信也無法對他們的心情造成任何損傷。

　　他因為勢利眼的價值觀而輕視你，這是他的品德不好而不是你的品德不好，為什麼要因為他的品德不好而感到受傷呢？我們無法改變別人勢利眼，但我們可以使自己可以包容勢利眼，它也不過是眾多價值觀中的其中一個罷了，了解包容各式各樣的價值觀，令自己成為一個更有品德的人。



　　其實「勢利眼」無所不在、富貴的看不起貧窮的、技術好的看不起技術差的、漂亮的看不起醜陋、聰明的看不起愚蠢的、聲望高的看不起聲望低的、有權力的看不起沒權力的，這些都可以說是「廣義」上的勢利眼，但一個人是多面向的，漂亮的人可能技術差、聰明的人可能貧窮，端看你的價值觀看重哪個部份，時尚圈的人比「美」，醜陋但富貴的人在這個圈子就可能受到輕視，但他在比富貴的場合就會受到尊敬。

　　勢利眼無所不在。但在那些用於定義「價值」可以拿來比較的「標籤」之前，他是個複雜的「人」而不只是用「貧富」、「美醜」或「聲望高低」這樣單純的東西就能定義其價值的存在。
