斑鳩是一種典型的陸生鳥類，以下圖的珠頸斑鳩（學名：Spilopelia chinensis）為例，牠的主食是果實、穀物和其他植物的種子，也會捕食昆蟲，全年都會繁殖。

去日本奈良的時候，想說也看看日本的斑鳩長什麼樣子，
當我在車站看到介紹奈良斑鳩的海報時，
我大吃一驚，沒想到奈良斑鳩是長這樣子：

當我覺得稀奇告訴朋友說這件事時，朋友只是冷冷的回了一句：

「海報上的『斑鳩』是指地名啦！」(註)

我覺得朋友實在太沒常識了，忌妒人家日本的斑鳩比較特別，
硬要說人家是地名，肚量也太小了吧！

註：指日本奈良縣的斑鳩町，海報中的動物通稱「奈良鹿」，是梅花鹿的日本亞種。
